Biblical Teaching: What was Paul’s Purpose in the Bible?

What was apostle Paul’s Purpose in the Bible? The Bible shows us how we have a purpose for our life. The first chapter of 2 Timothy continues to talk about Paul urging Timothy to bravely spread God’s Word to all. 2 Timothy 1:8-11 reads: “Be not ashamed therefore of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but suffer hardship with the gospel according to the power of God; who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal, but hath now been manifested by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, whereunto I was appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher.”

The passage above talks about how Paul tells Timothy that they should be willing to suffer for their cause- that is to spread the Gospel. God sent Jesus to save us and bring light through the Gospel; and in the same way, Paul, too, was appointed by God to preach the Word. Like apostle Paul, God has given us, too, a purpose.

We have a mission here on earth that we were designed to do the moment we were conceived. Paul’s mission was to spread God’s word as a teacher and preacher. What is your mission? In order to determine what your mission in life is, you must look inwardly. What inspires you? What are you fulfilled? Your mission in life will most likely be something that is in-line with your own interests and inclinations, as you were designed that way for that purpose.

If you want to achieve fulfillment and joy, you must try to realize what your purpose in life is. Be true to the things that you love and the things that motivate you. Doing so will put you in the right path, the path towards self-actualization.
