“Yet his bow remained unmoved; his arms were made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob (from there is the Shepherd, the Stone of Israel), by the God of your father who will help you, by the Almighty who will bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that crouches beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb. The blessings of your father are mighty beyond the blessings of my parents, up to the bounties of the everlasting hills. May they be on the head of Joseph, and on the brow of him who was set apart from his brothers. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Genesis 49:24-28 KJV)
When God says “prosperity”, what do you think He means by that? What is “prosperity” for you? For some people, prosperity is confused with money or material wealth. In fact, the subject for prosperity and blessing has been controversial to the church. Some churches oblige their members to bless the church with their money, even when tithing and offering has already been done. Sadly, some believers still don’t know the true meaning of prosperity especially in the eyes of God.
God is not a slot machine that we can turn to in order to be wealthy. Blessing is not all about money and material possessions. It is in fact, more than that. You can get this blessing through the right amount of prayer, praise, worship, faith, and good works.
A Hebrew word for prosperity is “shalom”. It means peace. Prosperity in God’s perspective is shalom. He is blessing you when He gives you peace. The peace of the Lord is far more different than the peace you get with people and with circumstances. It eliminates every fear you have. It is considered a whole kind of peace because it includes your peace with the Lord and with other people.
Peace is something you can’t get easily. Money and material wealth can be attained easily, and can vanish easily as well. But, with the peace coming from the Lord, it stays with you and provides you with abundance. God desires to bless and prosper you. His grace and favor are what you need to achieve His prosperity. God says, “You don’t need money. You need My favor.” You need His peace – the full measure of peace which can run your life.
Do you have God’s shalom? What do you feel? Can you see your life prosper with His peace? Thank God for this. He will continue to bless you tremendously.
