When you obey your parents, you have to submit under their authority. Obedience requires submission. How can you sincerely obey your parents if you do not trust them and if you cannot fully submit under their authority? It is like saying “I will follow my parents but I do not trust their judgment so I will find a way to do it myself.” That is partial obedience.
You have to understand that partial obedience is also disobedience. Partial disobedience means that you have reservations or hesitations in following your parents. Yes, you will obey them, but with conditional. This is because you do not trust them enough and there’s a part of you that you cannot submit under their authority.
Always remember that your parents are the chosen people by God to guide you and nurture you here on earth. In other words, they are the ones in authority. They are blessed by God to lead you to the path that He wants you to go. So it is important that you are obedient to your parents. And as you obey, you have to submit to them. You must trust that what they do is for your good. The bible said: “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”
