Faith and Trust In God’s Protection

How much faith do you have in God? What is your relationship with Him? The Bible called Noah a righteous man. He was blameless, in comparison to the people in His time. There is another important consideration about this prophet and his relationship with God. The Bible said he walked faithfully with God (Genesis 6:9). A faithful walk with God is a significant factor in the life of a prophet. This depicts that the prophet has a relationship with God. It speaks of how Noah led his life.

Walking with someone represents a close relationship. It speaks of intimacy. Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord because of the way He lived his life. It is ideal for Christians to have this kind of relationship with God. They are to live their lives in such a way that they are dependent on Him.

Let’s Have Faith in the Prophets

According to the Bible, “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God” (Genesis 6:9, NIV). When two people walk together it means they are enjoying each other’s company. No one is being left behind or going ahead. Imagine: the God of the Universe wants to walk with you. Prophets are privileged because they get this. They are privileged because they take advantage of the fact that God wants to communicate with us. Thus, like Noah, prophets spend their lives getting to know God, developing a connection with Him, and simply dwelling in His presence.

In the case of the prophet, God always protected him. Bible history will reflect how there was no genuine prophet that was ever brought to shame for obeying God. The relationship that Noah had with God allowed for Noah to trust God.

When you have a relationship with someone, it’s easier to trust him. Knowing about someone is different from knowing someone. In the same way, knowing about God is different from knowing God. The prophet knows God. There is a certain closeness between God and the prophet in order for the prophet to trust God.

Destruction of the World Proclaimed

After 100 years of being a father, Noah received devastating news. In the Bible, we observe how God provides warnings when he is about to bring destruction. God searches for hearts, which still belong to Him. God makes sure that they are protected.

During Noah’s time, the whole earth was already corrupt. The ways of the people were evil. God did not let Noah be destroyed by the flood. God did not allow His favored one to be included in those who would perish. In short, God does not let the good perish with the wicked.

In the account of Noah and the flood, God forewarned about the destruction of the earth. He told Noah about the flood. He instructed him about the ark that he was to build. God gave specific instructions as to how he was to build the ark. This shows just how God is a God of order and excellence. He gave Noah calculated instructions as to how he was to build the ark.

The Heart of A Prophet

Prophets need to have a heart that was willing to obey. At the same time, prophets need to have a humble heart. In the passage above, a proud heart would have said, “God is micro-managing everything. What a control freak!” A person who cannot humble himself before God will question

“Why this length?”

“Is it really that wood?”

“Why do we need to have an opening in the upper deck?”

“Should there really be three levels?”

“Why not bigger?”

There are a lot of things he could ask. Noah could have asked, “Why send a flood? Why don’t you just strike everyone else dead? Why all the hassle?” Well, it’s a faith issue.

The clincher in this passage is not the specificity of the instructions. We can find it in the last verse, “Noah did everything just as God commanded him” (Genesis 6:22, NIV). No questions asked? Perhaps. The Bible did not account any complaints or refusal.
