Liberty is Free

God has given us dominion over all things. How far does that dominion go? How free are we?

Since time immemorial, there have been wars and rumors of wars. People kill each other over gaining advantage and power. There were those who had been set at conquering lands and other races. We must be grateful that now, in our time, that is over. Instead, we are now fighting a greater war. A war within ourselves.

When we chose to come to earth, God granted us with the gift of agency or being able to choose for ourselves. We could choose to do whatever we want. There is, however, a law irrevocably decreed in heaven. God’s word is the law. He has set forth the guidelines by which we must follow in order to achieve a higher state of being. That which we are trying to achieve is to become like God Himself. He has given us the opportunity to do so.

God’s law requires us to adhere to a principle similar to Newton’s law: for every action, there is an equivalent reaction. We know that because of the governing forces of the universe, all things have order. Therefore, everything we do will sooner or later produce a consequence.

We are free to act. That is our liberty. But we are not free to choose the consequences. By forsaking our humanity and striving to be more like Christ, we move our way to real freedom when everything we do is in accordance to the will of the Father.
